The Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) has released a report on solar feed-in tariffs in south east Queensland for 2017–18.
QCA Chair Professor Flavio Menezes said the findings show that solar customers have a wide choice when it comes to electricity retail offers.
"Our analysis identified 16 retailers with solar feed-in tariffs attached to residential electricity offers, and 13 retailers with solar feed-in tariffs attached to small business offers in 2017–18," Professor Menezes said.
For households, the solar feed-in tariffs ranged from 6–20 cents per kilowatt hour, and for small businesses the range was from 6–16.1 cents per kilowatt hour in 2017–18.
"The QCA's analysis shows the best offer for a particular customer type varies according to the customer's level of electricity imports (consumption) and exports of solar power to the electricity grid," Professor Menezes added.
He cautioned customers to pay close attention to the supply and usage charges that discounts are based on, when they compare discounts on various offers.
"Customers with a low export ratio would generally benefit from offers that included lower supply and usage charges, while customers with a high export ratio would generally benefit from offers that included higher feed-in tariffs," Professor Menezes said.

The QCA monitors solar feed-in tariffs and publishes an annual report, as directed by the Queensland Government.
